(The Local Paper was on-the-spot at the UGFM Alexandra studios to photograph Maurie making the preliminary announcement. It is hoped that an official announcement from the Bishop and Mr Fallon would follow "soon".)

Kellock memorandum ‘soon’ to be signed

A Memorandum of Understanding may “soon” be signed, bringing Alexandra’s Kellock Lodge back under local control, volunteer Maurie Pawsey suggested on Peter Rice’s Good Morning Murrindindi radio program (standing in for Mike Dalmau) today (Saturday) on UGFM.

If the agreement is signed between Bishop John Parkes (for the Anglican Diocese of Wangaratta) and Alexandra businessman Larry Fallon, it is likely that a public meeting will soon be called for Alexandra and district people to discuss their role in the future. Funds would need to be raised, perhaps by shares and/or donations.

Under the proposal, Kellock Lodge would no longer have aged care services provided by the Trustees of the Anglican Diocese, and a new local Alexandra entity would be created, UGFM listeners were told.
