Wayne Miller of Alexandra has been named as one of Murrindindi Shire’s two Senior Citizens of the Year.

A Shire news release, issued on Australia Day (Fri.), said:

Wayne is a born and bred Alexandra resident, who has worked tirelessly for the community for many years. A Life Member of the Alexandra Football and Netball Club, Wayne was the Club President from 1986-1990 and 1992-1993.

Wayne was the Inaugural President of the Alexandra Truck Ute and Rod Show, and was on the committee for 11 years, including as secretary for five of those years.

He was a member of the Alexandra Traders and Tourism Association for more than 30 years, with eight years as President. This included involvement in the coordination of the Alexandra Easter Fair and Spring Fair.

During the 33 years that Wayne and wife Jo owned Miller’s Mensland, they provided sponsorship and gift vouchers for a broad range of fundraising activities.
