Conservation Volunteers Australia will launch the Urban Shade Forest project, a landmark initiative aimed at greening urban spaces and reconnecting people in cities to nature.
The project will commence with a community planting event on National Tree Day, on Sunday (July 30) at Spring Valley Park in Springvale South.
The Urban Shade Forest project, a collaboration between CVA and Chevron Australia, supported locally by Caltex and Greater Dandenong City Council, seeks to increase the amount of vegetation and canopy cover within urban spaces. The Dandenong Forest will be the first Urban Shade Forest created as part of the national project.
