BANYULE: Council acts on illegal jumps

Banyule Council says it is taking action about unsupported construction of dirt jumps on its land.
The Council says the problem has become more common over the past two years.
“While we are very keen to support getting young people outdoors and active, getting their hands dirty and being creative, we also have a responsibility to manage risks, as much as possible,” said a Banyule Council representative.
“Several ambulances have been called out due to people being badly injured when using unsupported bike jumps.
“The increase of these jumps has raised issues of community safety as well as caused damage to our natural environment. We are working on a solution that balances those considerations,” the Council said.
