MOONEE VALLEY: Emissions recommendations received


Moonee Valley Council’s Carbon Emissions Reduction Taskforce, comprising 45 diverse members, met over the course of three full day sessions to discuss and workshop the question, ‘How should Council reduce community carbon emissions?’
“Council has a key target in MV2040 to achieve zero net emissions for our community by 2040. How should Council reduce community carbon emissions?’
Mayor Cr Pierce Tyson receive the Recommendations Report from Taskforce members at the last workshop on Saturday 6 May 20. The report included 14 agreed recommendations to reduce community carbon emissions.
Recommendations include,
n supporting businesses to reduce their emissions
n promoting solar for residential multi-unit apartments
n increasing canopy cover
n assisting homeowners and rental providers to convert gas appliances to efficient electric and
n considering how Council supports and resources community carbon emissions reduction going forward
