PORT PHILLIP: Arrests after South Melbourne robbery


Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested two men following an armed robbery which occurred in South Melbourne last week.

It is alleged two men entered a depot on Market St, South Melbourne about 1.45pm on Friday, November 4.

The men approached a delivery driver and threatened him with a knife before stealing a number of packages and leaving.

The driver was not injured during the incident.

Detectives made a number of enquires and on Thursday (Nov. 10) executed a warrant at an apartment block on Coventry St, Southbank.

They arrested a 21-year-old man from Southbank and a 37-year-old man.

The 21-year-old was charged with armed robbery, aggravated burglary and assault with a weapon and was remanded by the court to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on February 2.

The 37-year-old man was charged with aggravated burglary, theft and deceptions and was remanded by court to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 17.
