KNOX: Rowville police car rammed

Two men were arrested after a burglary and police vehicle ramming in Melbourne’s south east on Saturday morning (Sept. 24).
Rowville police responded to earlier reports of a burglary at a commercial premises in Dandenong South just after 3am.
Upon arrival, the offending vehicle, a Toyota Hiace van, was allegedly rammed into the police divisional van on Langley St.
A short scuffle has occurred between the two male offenders and two police officers, before the offenders fled in the Hiace van.
The Hiace van has then collided into a Audi A3 vehicle on Alma Rd, just west of Hotham St, in St Kilda East, just before 7am.
The offending driver, a 28-year-old Dandenong man, sustained serious injuries while his passenger, a 32-year-old Mornington man, sustained minor injuries.
Both men remained trapped inside the van before being extricated and transported to hospital where they remained under hospital guard.
The driver of the Audi, a 26-year-old Balwyn man, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
During the ramming, one of the male constables was allegedly bitten on the arm and punched to the head multiple times and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and as is standard procedure for a serious collision with recent police contact, Professional Standards Command will have oversight of the investigation.
