David Ngo climbs the judge's tower at the Yea Golf Course.

SATURDAY
The sunshine brought out the numbers on Saturday at Royal Yea with Carl Maffei (25) winning his first Monthly Medal with a nett 68. Second to fourth was decided by CB with all three on nett 72. Wayne Rowe (11) was second from Rick Wills (7) then Martin Lowe (16). Rick was NTP on the 11th and Martin won the putting with 26 putts. Alan Pell won the Club Award after being disqualified by the Club Captain for hitting a wrong ball and not going back. The Ladies Winner was Laraine Callender (15) with 32 stableford points.

WEDNESDAY
Freshly recovered from his battle with pneumonia, Carl Maffei (25)dragged himself out of bed to win the Mens stableford round with a fine 34 points. Carl narrowly beat doctor, Martin Lowe (16) on countback carding 19 points to Martin’s 16 on the back nine. On a beautiful Spring day Neil Peterson (13) was third with 33 and Peter Johnston won NTP on the 2nd.
Shot of the day however went to new Club Member, David Ngo who miraculously landed his second shot high up in the judges stand on the 4th hole. Not being that familiar with the local rules, David grabbed his club and climbed the ladder to play the ball from where it lay … but his playing partners took pity and explained that he was entitled to a free drop.
