STATE OF DISASTER

A State of Disaster has been declared in Victoria because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Stage Four restrictions will be in force across Melbourne from 6pm on Sunday (Aug. 2).

The new restrictions include a curfew of 8pm-5am, and a 5km radius for exercising and shopping. In each household, only one shopper per day will be allowed.

On Monday (Aug. 3) there will be an announcement about work/business closures that will come into effect on Wednesday (Aug. 5).

All of Regional Victoria will be under Stage Three stay at home” restrictions for at least six weeks from 11.59pm Wednesday.

Mitchell Shire will remain under Stage 3 restrictions.

Under Stage 3 restrictions, there are only four reasons people can leave their homes:

• Shopping for food and essential items.
• Care and caregiving.
• Daily exercise.
• Work and study – if you can’t do it from home.

Premier Daniel Andrews said businesses would also return to Stage Three restrictions in Regional Victoria.

“That means restaurants and cafes can only offer delivery and takeaway,” he said.

“Beauty and personal services will need to close. Entertainment and cultural venues will need to close. Community sport will need to stop.

“This we’ll be tough for these businesses and their workers – and we’ll have more to say very shortly about extra support to help get you through.”
Regional schools will return to remote and flexible learning across all year levels.
