Cr Sandice McAulay, Murrindindi Mayor

Council proud of carers

Murrindindi Shire Council was proud when two of its Family Day Care Educators won Family Day Care Australia Regional Educator of the Year awards.

Nominated by the families of the children they look after, Educators Jane Thomas and Tamara Ruffin were recognised for the exceptional care and commitment to quality education they provide.

Mayor Sandice McAulay said Council was also pleased to announce that Murrindindi Shire Council Family Day Care has been nominated for a 2019 Excellence in Family Day Care Award.

“Council has more than 27 Family Day Care educators registered, providing care for some 300 children,” Cr McAulay said.

“We know what an amazing impact family day care educators can have and how special the bond between educators and the families they work with can be. We also know how important quality day care is for a child and their family. That’s why we’re committed to supporting family day care services for Murrindindi Shire residents.

“Council currently has family daycare providers operating in Alexandra, Kinglake, Kilmore, Seymour, Eildon, Woori Yallock, Healesville, Chum Creek, Yarra Glen, Toolangi, Gruyere, Seville and Millgrove.

“And there are lots of families out there looking for child care in a home environment , so if you or someone you know is interested in becoming a Family Day Care Educator, get in touch with Council to find out more,” Cr McAulay said.
