Warning: Gusts up to 100kmh


A strong cold front to move through Victoria this afternoon and evening.
Damaging Winds averaging 40 to 60 km/h with gusts to 100 km/h are forecast for the Central and parts of East Gippsland, South West, North Central, North East and West and South Gippsland Forecast Districts.

Gusts to 100 km/h are possible in thunderstorms.

Winds should ease a little following the passage of the cold front.
Locations which may be affected include Kyneton, Ballarat, Geelong, Melbourne, Wonthaggi and Bacchus Marsh.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

  • Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
  • Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
  • Keep clear of fallen power lines;

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 pm AEDT Friday.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau’s website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 217. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
