Severe wind warning issued


Severe Weather Warning
for DAMAGING WINDS
For people in parts of Central, North Central, North East and West and South Gippsland Forecast Districts.

Issued at 10:46 am Monday, February 19, 2018.
Weather Situation: A strong easterly pressure gradient will develop over southern Victoria this afternoon as a high pressure system moves to the south of Tasmania.

DAMAGING EAST TO SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h, are expected to develop in the warning area during the late afternoon and early evening.
Winds are expected to ease during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Locations which may be affected include the Yarra Ranges, Mt Baw Baw, Falls Creek, Mt Hotham and Mt Buller.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm AEDT Monday.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau’s website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 217. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
